WHO Health Recommendations

Underweight (BMI < 18.5)

  • Gradual weight gain through balanced nutrition
  • Increase protein intake (1.2-1.5g/kg body weight)
  • Resistance training to build muscle mass
  • Regular medical check-ups

Normal Weight (18.5-24.9)

  • Maintain current weight through balanced diet
  • 150-300 minutes moderate exercise weekly
  • Limit saturated fats to <10% of total energy intake
  • Regular health screenings

Overweight (25.0-29.9)

  • 5-10% weight loss for health improvements
  • Reduce energy intake by 500-750 kcal/day
  • Increase physical activity to 300 minutes/week
  • Limit sugar intake to <25g/day

Obesity (≥30.0)

  • Medical supervision for weight management
  • Combination of diet, exercise, and behavioral therapy
  • Consider pharmacological treatment if BMI ≥30 or ≥27 with comorbidities
  • Bariatric surgery for BMI ≥40 or ≥35 with comorbidities
